The History of M&D

In 1967, E.W. McCown, Mary Mitchell and Jack Dyson opened M&D Supply in Beaumont, Tx. Devastatingly, in 1971, a fire destroyed the building to the point of liquidation. However, in 1972, under the sole ownership of Jack Dyson, M&D celebrated its grand re-opening of the Beaumont location.

Five months later Jack passed from cancer, and his wife, Bernice, assumed ownership of the business for nearly two decades, before passing the torch to their son, Jeff Dyson. Jeff came into the business in 1979, and earned his stripes by surviving the difficult economy of the 1980s, soon after becoming the President and owner of M&D Supply.

Throughout the 1990s, Jeff guided M&D through multiple expansions. We added a lumberyard to our original location in Beaumont, as well as opening two more locations. The first in 2002 in Vidor, Tx., and in 2004 in Lumberton, Tx. M&D’s third generation owner, Scott Hatcher, took the reins in 2010. During his ownership, he purchased four Ace stores in the Houston, Tx. area: Clear Lake, Cypress, Rosenberg and on Beamer Rd. Since 2020, M&D Supply is under the ownership of Brent Dyson, who has opened two more locations. The first location in Mauriceville, Tx. in 2022, and Cleveland, Tx. in 2023. Continuing to be a family-owned business, M&D Supply has grown to a total of nine locations that are thankful and happy to serve both home and commercial customers in Southeast Tx.
